Transfer news LIVE: Salah agrees move to new club, Toon's Bergvall bid rejected - The Sun

Reports suggesting that Mohamed Salah was close to joining Besiktas have been denied by his agent. Despite widespread claims, Salah’s representative stated that no decision has been made regarding the former Liverpool winger’s future.

Salah concluded his nine-year tenure at Anfield after agreeing with Liverpool to cancel his contract at the end of last season. During his time with the Reds, Salah secured multiple honours, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Salah’s Liverpool Legacy and Transfer Speculation

Since his arrival from Roma in 2017, Salah made 315 Premier League appearances for Liverpool. He is among a select group of players who have been both the leading goalscorer and top assister for a club in the Premier League, having netted 191 goals in the competition.

The Egyptian international has been frequently linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League in recent years. However, reports indicate that his financial demands may be deterring some clubs, with some reportedly hesitant due to the asking price.

On Friday, claims emerged that Salah had agreed terms with Turkish club Besiktas. This prompted his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, to issue a public denial on X, stating, “I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?”

Earlier on the same day, Abbas also posted, “It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn’t want to play for, just for the sake of noise.”

Other European Transfer Updates

In other transfer news, Bayern Munich has reportedly rejected Real Madrid’s attempt to sign their 24-year-old French forward, Michael Olise, indicating he is not available this summer. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund’s 24-year-old German attacker, Karim Adeyemi, is reportedly set to join Barcelona in a deal.

Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly competing for the signature of 25-year-old RB Leipzig and Netherlands defender Lutsharel Geertruida, who was on loan at Sunderland last season. Manchester City and Tottenham are also said to be interested in Portuguese winger Francisco Trincao, 26, and could potentially intercept his move to Al-Ahli from Sporting.

Barcelona is also reportedly preparing to intensify their pursuit of Atletico Madrid and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez, 26, after this summer’s World Cup, with a bid. Hull City has submitted a bid for 24-year-old Mjallby midfielder and Swedish World Cup star Elliot Stroud.

Manchester United is exploring options for two additional midfielders after finalising a deal for 22-year-old Chelsea and Brazil international Andrey Santos. Greek centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, 28, is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs and other European teams following his performance at West Ham.

Como is hoping to sign 30-year-old Colombia defender Davison Sanchez, but Galatasaray’s asking price could be a hurdle. Manchester United is also in the market for a goalkeeper to compete with 24-year-old Belgian Senne Lammens, and may consider Paraguayan Orlando Gill, who reportedly has a release clause at San Lorenzo.

Newcastle United’s prospects of acquiring 23-year-old England goalkeeper James Trafford from Manchester City have improved, as Aston Villa, a potential rival, aims to retain their 33-year-old Argentine goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez. However, Chelsea has also shown interest in Trafford. New Benfica boss Marco Silva reportedly wants to sign his former Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, 31, with a bid reportedly being prepared to bring the Portugal international from Bayern Munich following his loan at Tottenham last season.

Salah recently captained Egypt to the round of 16 at the World Cup, where they were defeated 3-2 by Argentina after leading 2-0 in the 79th minute.
