France, led by Golden Boot candidate Kylian Mbappé, secured their quarter-final berth by defeating Paraguay 1-0 at Philadelphia Stadium. Mbappé contributed to his team’s win with a penalty kick. Morocco holds a FIFA ranking of No. 7, while France is ranked No. 3, trailing only Argentina and Spain.

Upcoming Quarter-Final Matchups

Further quarter-final matches are slated for Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11. On Friday, the winners of the Portugal–Spain and USA–Belgium round of 16 matches will compete at Los Angeles Stadium.

Saturday will feature two additional quarter-final games. The first will be held at Miami Stadium, where England will face Norway. England advanced to their third consecutive World Cup quarter-finals by defeating Mexico 3-2 at Mexico City Stadium, playing much of the second half with ten men. Norway is making its debut in the World Cup quarter-finals, having secured an upset victory over Brazil, with Erling Haaland scoring both goals for his team, placing him in a tie for the lead in the Golden Boot race.

The final quarter-final match on Saturday will take place at Kansas City Stadium, featuring the winners of the Argentina–Egypt and Switzerland–Colombia round of 16 fixtures.

Brahim Diaz’s Impact and Future

Morocco‘s forward, Brahim Diaz, has delivered notable performances in the 2026 World Cup, contributing two assists in the match against Canada, bringing his tournament total to four assists in five games. Despite the 3-0 scoreline against Canada, the round of 16 battle was described as hard-fought.
