Manchester United’s Midfield Search
Manchester United are reportedly making renewed efforts to secure a midfielder from Real Madrid during the current summer transfer window. The club previously made approaches for the player last winter and at the beginning of the current summer window, which were not successful. This continued pursuit follows the departure of Casemiro to Inter Miami.
The Real Madrid player, Aurélien Tchouaméni, a 26-year-old France defensive midfielder, is considered a key target. Reports indicate that Real Madrid is open to the possibility of selling him to Manchester United. His profile is noted to align with United’s requirements for a young player capable of anchoring the midfield and providing balance to the team.
Despite previous attempts, United has again inquired about Tchouaméni. He remains an option for the club as they seek a specialist defensive midfielder to fill the role left by Casemiro. While new arrivals like André Santos and Youri Tielemans tend towards attacking roles, Tchouaméni is described as a natural defensive midfielder.
Other Midfield Targets and Defensive Interests
In addition to Tchouaméni, Manchester United is also considering other midfield options. These include AS Roma and France midfielder Manu Kone, 25, and Brighton’s 22-year-old Cameroon international Carlos Baleba. Bournemouth’s 27-year-old United States midfielder Tyler Adams is also an option for the club.
Elsewhere, Arsenal is reportedly targeting defensive reinforcements. Among their interests are former Manchester City defender John Stones, 32, and Aston Villa’s 28-year-old Ezri Konsa. These players are being considered following an injury to France defender William Saliba, 25.
Chelsea is reportedly the frontrunner to sign 18-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovina attacking midfielder Kerim Alajbegovic from Bayer Leverkusen. Chelsea has also reportedly reached an agreement to sign 15-year-old American winger Benji Flowers from Major League Soccer side FC Dallas, with the move expected when he turns 18.
Bayer Leverkusen is also in discussions with Crystal Palace regarding the sale of French centre-back Axel Disasi, 28. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Manchester City are among the clubs interested in signing Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig.
Movements for Other Clubs
Liverpool and England Under-20 defender Amara Nallo, 19, is set to join Finnish club HJK Helsinki on a season-long loan. Celtic and Japan striker Daizen Maeda, 28, is scheduled for a medical examination on Friday to finalize his move to Ipswich Town. Leeds United’s English winger Jack Harrison, 29, is nearing a move to MLS side New England Revolution.
Everton has shown interest in Celtic’s Alistair Johnston, 27, who impressed for Canada at the World Cup. He is seen as a suitable right-back option for Goodison Park following the departure of Republic of Ireland defender Seamus Coleman. Aston Villa is interested in signing 25-year-old Everton and England midfielder James Garner this summer.
Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca remains keen on acquiring Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez, 25, and France full-back Malo Gusto, 23, from his former club Chelsea. Securing Tchouaméni from Real Madrid may prove challenging, as reports suggest José Mourinho is factoring him into plans for the upcoming season.
