Indian Boxers Advance to Semi-finals
Indian boxers have secured at least five bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, with several athletes advancing to the semi-finals. Among those guaranteeing medals are Sakshi Choudhary, Arundhati Choudhary, Sachin, Ankush, and Narendra. Arundhati Choudhary, competing in the women’s 70kg category, advanced to the semi-finals after a 3-1 split decision victory over Morgan Henderson of New Zealand. This win followed a challenging period for Choudhary, who revealed she had to lose nearly 2kg in one day prior to her bout. She dedicated her achievement to her younger brother and family, expressing gratitude for their support.
In the men’s 60kg boxing, Sachin secured his semi-final spot by defeating Botswana’s Treasure Moremi with a 5-0 unanimous decision. Sachin controlled the contest from the start, winning the first two rounds on all five judges’ scorecards before sealing the victory in the final round. The judges’ scores included 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28 in his favour.
Dominant Performances in Quarter-finals
Ankush also delivered a dominant performance in the men’s 80kg boxing quarter-final, securing a 5-0 unanimous decision victory against Seychelles’ Jade Micock. Ankush maintained control throughout the bout, winning all three rounds on every judge’s scorecard. The judges returned scores of 30-26, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, and 30-27, ensuring his progression to the semi-finals and guaranteeing another medal for India.
Narendra, in the men’s 90kg boxing, edged past Samoa’s Michael Seko with a 3-2 split decision to reach the semi-finals. This was a hard-fought contest, with both boxers exchanging heavy blows. Narendra held his composure in the final round, with three judges scoring the bout 28-27 in his favour, while the remaining two scored it 28-27 for Seko. Narendra’s victory further extended India’s impressive run in the boxing competition.

Earlier in the day, Narendra had taken a narrow lead in the opening round against Seko, with three judges scoring it 10-9 for the Indian. The second round saw continued intense action, including a knockdown and multiple warnings, with Narendra maintaining a strong position heading into the final round.
Broader Indian Contingent Updates
Beyond boxing, other Indian athletes are also making progress at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Animesh Kujur has qualified for the men’s 200m semi-finals, achieving a season’s best run. In shot put, both Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Samardeep Singh Gill have advanced to the final. However, Sanjana narrowly missed out on a medal in weightlifting.
India’s men’s pairs lawn bowls campaign has also commenced, with Dinesh Kumar and Navneet Singh set to compete against Namibia in their sectional play match. The duo aims to start their campaign with a victory to build momentum for the knockout rounds.
The confirmed list of Indian boxers who have secured medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026 includes Lovlina Borgohain (women’s 75kg), Preeti Pawar (women’s 54kg), Priya Ghanghas (women’s 60kg), Jadumani Singh (men’s 55kg), Sakshi Choudhary (women’s 51kg), Arundhati Choudhary (women’s 70kg), and Sachin Siwach (men’s 60kg), all of whom have reached the semi-finals.
