Ishan Kishan, the India wicketkeeper-batter, has ascended to the top position in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings. This achievement follows the latest update to the ICC Player Rankings, which saw Kishan replace his teammate Abhishek Sharma. The change occurred after India‘s two-match T20 International series against Ireland in Belfast, which India lost 2-0.
This marks the first time Kishan has reached the summit of the T20I batting rankings, making him the fourth Indian batter to do so. Other Indian players who have previously held the top spot include Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Abhishek Sharma. Sharma‘s reign at number one lasted for 11 months before Kishan‘s recent rise.
Kishan‘s strong performances, particularly during the ICC T20 World Cup earlier this year, contributed to his improved rating. During that tournament, he amassed 317 runs with a strike rate of almost 200. His consistent scoring has now earned him a career-best rating in the T20I format.

Changes in Test Batting Rankings
In the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, Australia batter Travis Head has moved to the top spot for the first time in his career. This shift comes after the England pair of Joe Root and Harry Brook experienced drops in their ratings following the third Test against New Zealand. Root and Brook lost 31 and 14 points respectively, allowing Head to claim the number one position.
Head is the first Australian to lead the Test Batting Rankings since Marnus Labuschagne held the top spot in June 2023. Head now has 853 rating points, placing him just one point ahead of Brook. Root, who had begun his 12th stint at the top of the rankings only a week prior, has now slipped to third place.
Several players from New Zealand also saw significant gains in the Test Batting Rankings after their team secured a 2-1 victory in the ICC World Test Championship series. Nottingham centurions Daryl Mitchell moved up five places to 11th, Devon Conway advanced 14 places to 15th, and Tom Latham climbed 12 places to 31st. England opener Ben Duckett‘s first innings century also helped him improve his ranking, moving from 17th to 14th place.
Bowling and All-rounder Movements
In the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings, Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the top spot. This occurred after Matt Henry lost one percent of his points tally due to missing the Nottingham Test through injury, conceding the top position back to Bumrah only a week after having claimed it. Nathan Smith, who was the leading wicket-taker in the series, moved up eight places to 38th, while William O’Rourke advanced five places to 27th.
England captain Ben Stokes concluded his Test career as the 34th-ranked bowler, having moved up three slots. He also finished as the third-ranked all-rounder, improving by two slots. In the Test Batting Rankings, Stokes is positioned at 54th.
The latest weekly update also accounted for performances in the first Test between the West Indies and Sri Lanka, and the one-off Test between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. From these matches, Sri Lanka’s Dhananjay de Silva moved up six places to 21st in the batting rankings, and West Indies’ Roston Chase climbed 14 places to 79th. Among bowlers, the Windies pair of Shamar Joseph advanced nine places to 14th and Kemar Roach moved up four places to 17th, while Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani gained six places to 19th.
T20I Ranking Adjustments
Beyond the top spot, other players in the T20I Batting Rankings also saw movements. Ireland’s Lorean Tucker, who scored a half-century in the first match against India, moved up four places to 77th. Teammate Harry Tector inched up one place to 79th, and Ross Adair climbed six slots to 84th. Additionally, seam bowler Matthew Humphreys from Ireland moved up one place to 25th after taking four wickets in the series.
